Overview

Combining portions of Old Tin Mine Road and Blue Moon with the entirety of Mad Cow and Lazy Cow makes for an amazing and varied loop than can be completed in just over an hour by an average rider.

Challenging climbs, well designed switchbacks, arroyo crossings, an easy wooden bridge, rocky sections to test your suspension, some small jumps and pump sections, and great flowing singletrack are all part of this loop.

Need to Know

Most of this loop is within the state park fee area. $5 for day use or a $70 annual pass will ensure you are supporting this great trail system!

Description

Start at the Chuck Heinrick Park Trailhead and climb up onto the levee heading south for a quarter of a mile then make a U-turn north towards Old Tin Mine Road. The ride up Old Tin Mine Road may be the least fun part of the loop unless you love climbing (sometimes through a loose arroyo).

After 2.3 miles, you'll be near the top of Old Tin Mine Road at the intersection with Blue Moon. The hard work is done and be ready for some fun. Take Blue Moon north for about 0.7 miles to the intersection with Mad Cow. This section of Blue Moon has a couple of challenging climbs but is still great fun and once you hit Mad Cow you are in for a lovely, smooth, flowing switchback and singletrack rollercoaster down to the round house and back on Lazy Cow.
