Description

This section begins on the north side of County Road 376, crossing KY 89 and then running parallel to the highway before turning south and running along Forest Service Road 3115. The trail then crosses 3115 and descends to Elisha Branch, passing below some large boulders and overhanging cliffs along the way.

From there, the route heads northeast on Forest Service Road 370 to US 421. The trail leaves US 421 at the Daniel Boone National Forest sign on Birch Lick Creek where it enters the forest.

The trail crosses Birch Lick Creek and then climbs to Forest Service Road 3062. It parallels the road before turning south toward Hooten Branch. There are three creek crossings as well as some steep and rocky sections heading out of Hooten Branch.
