Description

Avanti Lane is not level, but it does not gain or lose very much vertical as it crosses between the Eagles's Nest area and the mid-Vail area. From just below the Eagle Bahn Gondola station, signs direct bikers downhill and eastwards, below an employee parking area. From here, the trail descends past Adventure Ridge's disc golf, tubing, and zip line areas. This newer trail has a still-bumpy surface of packed dirt and embedded rocks. You'll traverse ski runs and pass over small streams via helpful wooden bridges. Soon the trail hits a major dirt road - keep an eye out for speeding service vehicles as you cross the road and head slightly uphill to catch the Avanti Lane Trail on the other side.

Signs guide users here at the busy junction of the Fireweed hiking trails, Lucy's Loop and Avanti Lane. Avanti Lane continues uphill from this point, gently climbing through intermittent wooded terrain on smoother track. The wildflower-studded fields are spectacular all summer long, and riders would be forgiven for pausing to take in wide-angle views of the Gore Range. Climb a steep banked switchback and then onto the service road ( Village Trail). The trail officially ends here, but it only takes another minute on a short downhill section of the Village Trail heading east to reach mid-Vail.
