Overview

A great loop/link-up out of the Binns Hill Staging Area that combines Dirt Surfer (170), Sexy Beast (171), and The Cobbles (160) for the up and Ken A (170) Dirt Surfer (170) and Binns Hill (160) for a ripping descent back to your car.

Description

Start out from Binns Hill Staging Area, cross Riordan Hill Road and begin the loop on Trail #180 - 180 can be dry/powdery in the heat of the summer, and sees a bit of moto traffic. Follow 180 for approx. 1/3 mile to a signed, right turn on to Trail 170. Quickly cross Riordan Hill Road and continue on Trail 170. After a few turns in the trees, take the unsigned, less traveled right turn in the small clearing as Trail 170 begins an uphill left turn. Continue climbing Trail 170 until the intersection with Dirt Surfer (170).

Proceed left/uphill on Dirt Surfer (170). Be aware of downhill riders in this section - it won't be long until you're flying downhill here yourself! Continue through the open/clear-cut, and often dry, section of trail. Shortly after re-entering the woods, turn right onto the 1009 doubletrack and follow it uphill for a few turns to connect with Riordan Hill Road.

Turn left on Riordan Hill Road and follow it uphill for a short section to the intersection where 2 Chair (160) crosses at the intersection of roads 1070 and 1010. Take a moment to enjoy the northerly view, then proceed hard left on the road 1070 and take the signed left entrance to Sexy Beast (171).

Follow Sexy Beast (171) until its end at the intersection of Road 2440 and 2444. Head a short ways uphill on the often loose and rocky Road 2440 until the signed left turn on to The Cobbles (160). Note that the current signage does not refer to this section of Trail 160 as The Cobbles (160).

Enjoy the technical, sometimes loose, rocky climb up The Cobbles (160) to its terminus at the start of the signed Ken A (170) trail. Note that the signage refers to this trail as Dirt Surfer (170).

Finally, turn your bike downhill and enjoy the fast, rocky descent that is Ken A (170). Shortly after the uphill grunt out of Ditch Creek, you'll connect with the fast and flowy Dirt Surfer (170). Continue all the way to Riordan Hill Road, cross the road and take your first right onto Binns Hill (160) and follow it all the way back to Binns Hill Staging Area. Several trails fan out between crossing Riordan Hill Road and the staging area - signage is good here with most options leading you back to your car.
