One of the most used trails in Rifle. A fun twisty trail with a great lookout halfway through.

Description

If you have ridden in Rifle, most likely you have ridden on this trail. This trail goes well in both directions, a little more flow clockwise but not by much. There are a few rock gardens to negotiate but nothing an intermediate rider can't handle. There is one section called rattlesnake rock that has been slowly eroded over the years that isn't too bad going down but can only be cleaned by advanced or better riders climbing up.

If taking this trail in the described direction on on this map, about 50 yards past rattlesnake rock, you'll come to a washed out section that looks a little like a 4x4 road. If you'd like, you can extend the trail by going straight onto the singletrack you see in front of you called G-Whiz Horseshoe. If not, take a right here and head toward the ancient looking rocks and hills - you should see the singletrack pick back up in front of you shortly. Follow down and skirt past a large rock on your right, make a single switchback to your left and back up a rocky, eroded, technical feature, and end the trail on another 4x4 road. Take a right to bail back to 244 here or continue straight onto Puma trail.
