Description

Three Ravines is exactly as the name implies, three ravine crossings - each one very different in approach and execution. Three Ravines runs predominantly downhill from the middle of Dynamite Road on the west to a three-way intersection with Ho Chi Minh and One Day on the east. Be sure to loudly announce your presence entering each ravine to alert any oncoming riders. As always, uphill riders have the right of way.

Heading eastbound from Dynamite Road, the smoothest line into the west ravine is on the right over some flagstone armor. Climbing out of the ravine will a bermed right hand climbing sweeper. The winding descent between the west and middle ravine is heavily populated with roots so choose your lines carefully and be sure to yield to any riders going uphill.

The middle ravine begins with a left hand dropping sweeper. There will be two humps on the bottom that will need to be rolled over. Immediately after the second hump will be a quick climb over a rooty section that will test your skill and line choice.

The eastern ravine has a heavy root section right before the downhill approach. Stay to the right when dropping into the ravine and the flow will take you to the left then right side of the trail as your momentum carries you up and out of the ravine. The remainder of the trail is relatively flat and smooth except for two tight rooty sections. The trail ends at a three-way intersection where heading left will take you up Ho Chi Minh and going right will take you down One Day.

Heading westbound from Ho Chi Minh and One Day, the trail is mostly straight except for two tight rooty sections. After dropping into the east ravine, try to maintain your momentum as part of the climb out will be littered with roots.

The middle ravine starts with a swooping left to a tight right down over some roots and two humps. The climb out of the middle ravine in this direction is a long technical challenge so keep your momentum up and choose your lines carefully to avoid stalling.

The west ravine starts with a bermed left hand dropping sweeper. The smoothest climb is on the left side over the flagstone armor. Three Ravines ends at a three-way intersection. Going left will go down Dynamite Road toward 107th Street. Going right will take go toward Psycho Path and the Old Argonne area.
