Overview

A nice tour to get your bearings so you can start to add on the goods.

Description

Start at the Section 16 Trail off of Gold Camp Road. You're going to start with pedaling north on Gold Camp towards the fourway stop. Look for a telephone pole as the road turns right, roughly mile 0.7. There's a left turn onto a local bit of singletrack that takes you into Red Rocks.

Follow the doubletrack and look for a singletrack on the right, mile 0.8 to continue into RRCOS. At mile 1, you'll merge with some doubletrack. Continue straight to join up with Chamberlain Trail at mile 1.1. You'll have a split at mile 1.2, stay right.

This is a newer trail that has uphill and downhill traffic, so use a bell! At the next intersection, mile 1.3, hang a sharp right onto Codell Trail. After some fun switchbacks, the next intersection at mile 1.5 you'll need to stay straight by veering left to rejoin Chamberlain Trail quickly. Keep riding down the valley to the north.

After a nice, longer downhill, you'll hit doubletrack at mile 2.2, hang a left to climb up Red Rock Rim Trail for a tenth of a mile. Hang a right at the top of this short climb onto Lower Bock Trail. Stay right onto Upper Bock Trail at mile 2.4 to have a nice view of the park and surrounding mountains.

Mile 2.65, you'll rejoin Lower Bock Trail, keep straight and keep you momentum. Continue straight on Lower Hogback to Old Quarry Connector as you'll a trail drop you towards the skills/jump park. If you end up at the parking lot, you took a wrong turn.

Mile 2.8, you'll rejoing Bock Trail, hang a right. Continue straight on Bock Trail at mile 2.9. At mile 3.05, veer right onto Red Rock Rim Trail to descend doubletrack towards Roundup Trail. At mile 3.4, continue on Red Rock Rim Trail southbound.

Stay right at mile 3.5. At mile 3.6, the trail ends into several double tracks. Take Landfill Road Connector to the right towards the sandstone gap as you pedal towards Roundup Trail. Mile 3.75, take Landfill Road through the sandstone gap. Then a left onto Roundup Trail at mile 3.9. Settle in for a climb!

First cross over is at mile 4.4, continue on Roundup Trail. Next cross over is at mile 4.7, stay on Roundup Trail. Last crossover is at mile 4.9.

After a fun, fast downhill, you'll run into a trail closure at mile 5.3 with two options to descend to your left. Either works, the first choice is easier!

Once through, you'll spit out into a sand wash and at mile 5.4, take a left to climb towards Sand Canyon Trail. Another climb awaits. At mile 5.7, take the left onto East Fork Sand Canyon Trail.

Mile 6.5, you're almost done with the climbing! Take the left onto Intemann Trail. Mile 7 you'll be at a fourway intersection, stay straight onto Intemann Trail.

At mile 7.2, you'll intersect Section 16 Trail, take a left. Next intersection at mile 7.6, stay right onto Section 16 Trail.

Coming into the home stretch! One tricky spot at mile 7.8 with a hard, left switchback to finish out!
