This trail can get quite busy with hikers on weekends and holidays, especially near the parking lot. Consider other trails as downhill options (i.e. Lion Trail) or mange your speed.

After passing by the first sandstone fin near the parking lot, the Lower portion of Sand Canyon becomes a doubletrack trail. It gradually climbs back farther in to the park. As you get farther back in the park, you can branch off onto round up trail or the East fork of sand Canyon, or head all the way up to the Crystal hills neighborhood. Coming down, there is an optional rock roll, as well as many grade reversals which can be boosted for some fun air time.
