Description
Deer Run is one of two trails which start next to each other from the connector trail between
Toyon Ridge trail and
East Ridge trail - however be aware the trail on the right (when looking downhill) named Wildcat Canyon Trail is marked No Bikes (ie. hiking only), so Deer Run it is if you're on two wheels...
Fortunately Deer Run is an excellent and free flowing descent down the west side of the canyon - however, be aware it is narrow in places, and there is some quite significant exposure too from time to time.
Generally the trail surface is firm and level, and although technically this is a 2-way trail like the majority in the park, being a narrow shelf for much of it's length there would be little room to pass, so I very much recommend you only plan to ride this in the downhill direction (as shown) - there are plenty of easier/wider trail options on either side to gain elevation into this part of the park.
Overall I would rate this as an 'easy blue' trail other than a couple of short steep descents perhaps - fortunately they are not rutted and have plenty of run off at the bottom, and visibility is generally good along the majority of the trail.
