Overview
Great loop if you are staying in
Dew Drop Campground and want to leave right from camp. It's a scenic loop with some flow, and a few chances to catch a smidge of air! Really cool wooden bridges to cross.
Description
If you visit Jake's Rocks and are staying at DewDrop Campground, this is a fun loop that you can take right from the campground!
As you exit the campground,
Grouse is on your right. Start your ascent going up
Grouse. You'll intersect with DewDrop. At the top of DewDrop you intersect with
Vulpes. Follow it up. This is my favorite ascent just because I thought it was pretty.
You now reach an intersection.
Cornplanter goes two different directions. You want to follow
Cornplanter and take the straight most path from where you came.
Ride on
Cornplanter for a short bit and you'll see what, on the map, is a brown line (allegedly a gravel road). This to me is less like a road and more like a utility easement. Drop down on that and follow it for a very short bit (less than half a mile). On your right side (on the side of the actual road) is the unmarked entrance to
Laurel. You'll see that it is well worn but it is easy to miss. If you find yourself starting an ascent you have gone too far and passed the entrance.
Follow
Laurel back to
Grouse back to Camp.
Laurel was my favorite segment with good photo opportunities and some flowy terrain.
