Need to Know
Seven Bridges is accessed from either
Brake Through (Blue) or Flow (Red) trails and can be incorporated as part of a longer top-to bottom route down the mountain.
The trail is part of the Mammoth Mountain bike-park - lift ticket is required for access.
Description
Seven Bridges is rated Orange/single black diamond on the Mammoth Mountain bike-park map, which is one step up from their Blue 'moderate' trails... However, the majority of this trail can be considered 'Blue' and suitable for intermediate level riders, with only one really steep rocky descent [which is only short] prior to the series of bridges which cross the creek.
The start of Seven Bridges trail is found to your left at the junction where
Brake Through crosses the Flow trail - you need to turn left downhill on a short section of Flow trail, then left again following the sign for Seven Bridges and Ricochet.
Once on the initial portion of the Seven Bridges/Ricochet trail, it is an easy traverse (albeit quite narrow in places) across the hillside, before the trail splits again - Ricochet to the right and down hill, while Seven Bridges continues left to traverse the hillside through the trees.
Eventually Seven Bridges enters a clearing with the creek ahead, and there is a short steep downhill into the creek gully itself, before the trail crosses the creek on a series of wooden bridges - seven of them! (or maybe eight in total actually, it's easy to lose count!) - the the trail then dips back into the woods, doubles back and crosses the final bridge, before heading downhill across a couple of access roads and back into the woods to join the
Downtown trail.
