One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.
Need to Know
The Golden Eagle parking lot is at the upper end of Golden Eagle Way, past the control gate of the Golden Eagle Farms residential development. Apparently visitors must present a permit card at the control gate, available during regular business hours from the Pleasanton Community Services office.
Description
A brand new (Summer 2023) professionally-built dedicated MTB downhill trail, featuring a range of technical features including rock gardens, small double and table-top jumps, larger log/gap jumps, banked/berm corners and other 'bike park' style elements, together with more challenging natural terrain.
Throughout the length certain features have optional Blue (intermediate) and Black (Advanced) rated lines with signs, and all the Blue features also have rollable bypasses. However, be aware that even the Blue line in places is steep and loose, and this trail is not recommended for novice or inexperienced/cautious riders.
This prescribed route on the map follows the main Blue line down the hill - there are also a few short optional Black rated loops off the main route with more technically challenging features.
A short distance from the top/start there is also a short steep side trail to a shady scenic overlook with a log bench - offering views over Pleasanton and Dublin.
The bottom of this DH trail exits directly into the parking lot at the end of Golden Eagle Way* with a large staging area and bathrooms, and there is an easy [albeit quite long] access climb to the top of ridge using the [two-way]
Golden Eagle Trail and
Valley View Trail.
*Note that Golden Eagle Way parking lot is part of a private estate, with access only for residents or those with a permit.
Once you reach the ridge, you then follow the
Ridgeline Trail to the trailhead/start of this trail (at the T junction of
Ridgeline Trail &
Thermalito Trail) - marked by a large sign/trail map next to a 'skinny' wood feature.
