Fire road that follows the ridge about 1200ft above Pleasanton.

Mike Anciaux

Description

Access the trail by climbing either from Sunol (up the Thermalito Trail) or from the Foothill Staging Area on Foothill Road on the Woodland Trail. Either way, it is a bit of a climb (800 ft or so). The Ridgeline Trail is an up and down fire road with little shade but great views to the West and the East (Mt Diablo and Morgan Territory).

There are many informal single tracks that criss-cross the road but generally follow the same route (almost all are illegal). The trail is mostly in Pleasanton Ridge (East Bay Regional Parks) but does briefly go through the Augustine Bernal Park (City of Pleasanton). Just after passing through the Augustine Bernal Park, there is a legal singletrack on the right where the East Bay Regional Parks District converted a wide fire road into a 4ft wide trail. They are hoping to do more of these conversions over the coming years.
