Overview

Getting to and from Repack without using Tamarancho. Slightly longer and more climbing than going through Tamarancho, with less technical riding.

Description

Park in Fairfax. Beginning of ride is a mix of city streets and fireroads. Once you get to Deer Park Fire road the climbing begins. A couple of steeper parts on deer park around 12 % but relatively short. When you get to the 5 corners you depart Deer Park for Upper Shaver Grade which you follow until you come to Sky Oaks Road, turn right and then take your first left down the gravel road (Bon Tempe Roade) and head down the Bon Tempe Dam.

Once you get to the dam you follow the Bull Frogg connector road until you see Meadow Club fire Road which you turn left to follow. You'll pass the Meadow club golf course, exit through the golf course club house parking lot and then make a left on Fairfax Bolinas road – sorry about the pavement, you follow the road until you see the Pine Mountain Fire Road on your right. Depending on when it was last graded the climb up Pine mountain can be nasty (rocky and slippery gravel under it) which at times is over 20%.

You'll take the first trail to you right to get onto San Geronimo Ridge Road (currently not a lot of fun with the amount of baby head rock gardens). The next trail to your right is Cascade Canyon Road AKA Repack Road. Keep in mind Repack road is a fire road which in about 2 miles drops over 1300 feet so at times it is steep – – remember there are hikers and other riders that may be heading up this trail – so keep things in check.

Eventually Repack crosses Cascade creek over a wooden bridge at which point you take a kink right the trail along the creek flattens out as you work you way back into town and eventually becomes cascade drive roadway.
