Pack water! Take the switchbacks slowly. Ride with a bell. And leave well before dusk.

Description

P13 is one of the more remote-feeling trails on the Arnold Rim Trail system. The trail starts along the north side of Valley View Drive, and follows a gentle singletrack path for roughly 0.5 miles.

The trail starts a steeper, winding descent into several creek drainages from here. There are several sharp switchbacks to navigate, but you'll be rewarded with several beautiful views and several low Sierra meadows.

The trail traverses several small canyons, and ultimately climbs back up to Avery-Sheep Ranch Road, where you can either link the Fullen/San Domingo Loop or ride several other trails back into the Rim Trail system.

Note that trees do occasionally come down across this trail. The trail is well-marked with numbered signposts, but there are few offshoots and it's possible to lose your bearings. Use the MTB Project mobile app and download the Avenza maps app for use when there is no mobile signal. Pack water, and start out well before dusk.
