The BEST beginner loop in Crockett Hills. The climbing can get steep, but the descent is extremely long and fun.

Features Views

Family Friendly The short mileage and easy difficulty make this perfect for families, but the climbing is steep in parts. For this reason, I would recommend this for older kids, and be prepared to have them walk.

Overview

Wood Rat Trail, Soaring Eagle Trail, and Edwards Loop Trail are the highlights of this ride. Fast and flowy singletrack make these fun in either direction.

Description

NOTE: This loop skips all of the extremely fun flow trails. If you are intermediate or above, I would recommend doing the whole Crockett Hills loop.

The first half of this trail is all climbing. Although it looks hard, the only difficult part is the Edwards Creek Trail, which climbs for around 1.2 miles. After that, it is an easy climb to the top via Wood Rat Trail and Soaring Eagle Trail.

After around three miles, you'll reach two benches. Congratulations! You completed the climb! If you or your child handled the climb well, consider going down the extremely fun and flowy Sugar City Trail (and back up Big Valley Trail /Two Peaks Trail).

Otherwise, turn around and backtrack to the tunnel. Then, instead of taking Wood Rat Trail back down to the parking lot, take Edwards Loop Trail. It is more fun, but the switchbacks can be a little tight for complete beginners.
