Features Views

At the end of the trail, an off-limits trail is present which forks off to the right. Stay to the immediate left. This is the end of the trail -- relax and enjoy the panoramic view before making your way back up.

Description

North Ridge Trail, starting from the Whittemore Gulch Trail juncture, is the beginning of a constant drop of elevation, somewhat gradual, then steep, down to the dryer part of the trail at the base, between the Whittemore Gulch Trail and the end of the trail. Definitely be very careful turning downward into the dry section of the trail, right as the trail leads out from the first patch of trees -- it begins to drop, having an edge of seemingly no recovery should your brakes/bike in any way give out.

Know your bike and limitations.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this trail. I biked. She hiked.

There were frequent groups of hikers along the way, both ways. Some with children, so with the right provisions and approach, this trail can be great for everyone.

Vantage point from the first shaded area of trail before coming out to the dry section, which starts with a bit of crevasses and rocks that will lead you into the trail in sight, on the left.

Tried to add this to the Purisima Creek Grand Loop but the seriously steep climbs kicked my butt! Par for the area so bring your climbing legs!
