Singletrack that would be fun if it weren't for the lacerating weeds and poor terrain.

Need to Know

WARNING: Watch out for tall weeds with a purple bulb and large thorns. These thorns will easily penetrate your clothing and cut you if you pass by them at speed. Even if you get off your bike and slowly walk by them they will still poke you through your clothes. I've ridden this trail about four times and they've only been present once.

Description

Mudstone Ranch has a tendency to get run over by weeds and this trail is definitely susceptible to that. When the weeds aren't slapping you from both sides of the trail, the next thing you'll notice is the dry, loose and very bumpy terrain. I've heard this is due to the machine that they use to clear the trail of weeds. It produces very rough terrain that you'll definitely notice if you're using a hardtail.

In certain sections, butterflies will occupy the crevices in the ground and the weeds and fly up as you approach them, further adding to the difficulties of the trail.

If the weeds and the terrain could be addressed, this trail would actually be pretty decent. However, the thorny weeds make it a very unpleasant experience.

Pretty dry but not terrible. This is one of the few local trails (& longest one) and can be quite fun. Doable on GRVL but 10x more fun on full-squish. 10mi
