“Climb up from Jamestown by passing the ruins of the Blue Jay Mine (an early mining homestead) and alpine meadows.”— Charles S
Pass the historic Blue Jay Mine and continue climbing up into patches of meadow. Pause at the top of the meadow to visit the homestead ruin before entering an aspen grove. From here, the route gets very steep, and the grade gets increasingly more brutal towards the top.
Enjoy views to the south from the ridge top. From here, it is a bomber downhill back to town, or link up with FS Road 509.1 (Flying Squirrel) to loop your way back.
