This is a shared-use, mostly doubletrack trail with some singletrack and some pavement sections. This trail has some steep fall line sections and some sections can stay wet for a couple of days after rain, depending on the time of year.

This trail shares the pavement section with the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Driving Tour, which is only open to cars 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sundays.

While the trails at Jug Bay Natural Area aren't very busy, they are shared-use and there will occasionally be equestrians and hikers so be aware.
