On the eastern end, this trail starts about 1.5 miles up a gated Forest Service access road in Burner's Bottom, off Page Valley Rd, approx.13.5 miles north of Egypt Bend. Note the private property leading up to and around this road; do not turn up any road or trail marked "Private/No Trespassing".
The Forest Service road climbs gradually upwards and is extremely smooth--almost hardpacked at times. Around mile 0.5, pass through a gate and continue to climb along the road until mile 1.5, where you'll reach a turn-around and the start of the Tolliver Trail on your left.
Climb the singletrack upwards towards the ridge; it is gentle and sandy at first, then increasing in steepness and roughness. After a 0.5 miles of climbing, the road will turn right and become very rocky and technical. The Tolliver Trail ends at a subtle fork in the trail where it joins the Milford Gap Trail
Left will continue up and over the ridge, where you can join the Massanutten Trail
. Right will take you back downhill towards the abandoned Hazard Mill Canoe Camp.
