Overview

A tough out and back along a rocky ridgeline.

Description

The parking is at Taskers Gap ATV parking lot at the top of Edinburg Rd (675).

The trailhead is at the intersection of Edinburg Rd, and the ATV road, Peters Mill. From the parking lot, cross Edinburg Rd and immediately look for orange blazes and singletrack to the left of the ATV road. There is no sign marking the trail. You'll not ride on the ATV road at all.

This portion of the Massanutten Trail is an orange blazed ridge top trail. This portion is rocky and techy but very rideable. This section of ridge rides slightly better Northbound. It begins with a fairly steep and rocky climb to Waonaze peak. Then it descends sharply before giving a gentle downhill roll along the ridge to Woodstock tower. It is "mostly flat/rolling" for a ridge top, with fewer steep pitches than the East ridge of the Massanutten trail. The final descent into Mudhole Gap is steep, fast, and loose in spots.
