Description

Black Forest Regional Park is a multi-use trail system for mountain biking, hikers, and equestrians alike. The 2012 fire in Black Forest left much of the park recovering from significant burn. The trail system remains intact and open and is a nice place for novice bikers.

The outer loop begins at the parking lot off of Milan Rd. A wide doubletrack winds up and down the flowing hills through the remaining pines and the burnt areas. While the trail can be sandy and dry, it is a nice option in wetter weather as the sand absorbs much of the moisture.

The trail climbs north along the eastern edge of this trail. The hills are mild. At the northern end, the trail runs along the Pikes Peak Loop Trail. For added distance, this loop can be added. Alternatively the loop can be cut short and the North/South Connector can be taken back to the parking lot.

The trail continues across Milan Road for a short distance, then crosses back again as it descends back toward the lot.

Multiple un-mapped connectors exist for variety to the trail.

Trails merge here. You'll see a metal bench seat. If looking to ride the big Pikes Peak loop stay right of the bench and head East.
