“This is a brief but sweet clockwise loop around Palmer Park that takes about an hour at moderate pace.”
— Chris Barili
This loop starts at the parking area near the stables, and sets out clockwise around the northwest side of the park. It starts on the Palmer Point Trail
, continues on Greecrest Trail, and finishes on Grandview Trail
. It has a mix of surfaces and includes some moderately technical sections, including two rock garden ascents. Plan for about an hour at a moderate pace.
Need to Know
This is not
the normal, 13-mile Palmer Park Loop
, but a shorter trip that only covers a portion of the park, and is great for an after-work ride when time is limited.
From the parking area, head west onto the Palmer Point Trail
, where you'll do about 15-20 minutes of rocky singletrack with some short but tough technical climbs and a descent or two. You'll flow down onto Greencrest Trail
near Brenner Place (a street).
I like to cut from Greencrest Trail
up a technical climb (hike-a-bike for me), then do Palmer Point Trail
over the main part of the park, then backtrack and head uphill to the Grandview Overlook for a gorgeous view of the Front Range.
Then it's back down the Grandview Trail
's downhill section to the parking lot where the ride started.
