Overview
This 13.8-mile loop takes you around Navajo Lake on gentle singletrack. Offering views of the lake, a unique basalt flow, and reaching a cool view point on the Virgin River Rim trail, this is a must do. With more gentle riding then the surrounding trails of Brian Head and Bryce, this is a great option to get away from the more downhill focused trails nearby.
Description
Start by parking at the Navajo Lake Trailhead on the southeast side of the lake. From here, begin pedaling the trail counterclockwise on a well-built singletrack. The trail starts on a singletrack that glides through a forest, takes you over a basalt field, then down some enjoyable singletrack that parallels the lake.
Once at the Te-Ah Campground, cross the road and start on a semi-steep climb up to the Virgin River Rim trail above. Note that if you don't want to climb all the way to the top, staying on the inner
Navajo Lake Loop cuts out the elevation gain.
Upon reaching the
Virgin River Rim Trail, follow it for a few miles. This rides along a unique ridgeline and is known for having an occasional downed tree. Continue on this trail until reaching the
Dike Trail. Take a left here, which brings you back down to the Navajo Loop Trail. From there, take a right for a short section before reaching the road you drove in on. Cross it, and it will lead you right back to your car.
