Family Friendly We see families with children riding up here all the time. The first part of the climb is steeper and then mellows out.

Description

Deer Park Fire Road starts behind the Fairfax - San Anselmo Children's Center at the end of Porteous Road in Fairfax, and connects in to the MMWD/Mt. Tam watershed trail system.

It is a popular place to start rides and a great dirt connector instead of climbing up the pavement of Fairfax-Bolinas Road.

This is a great way to start longer rides or visit the Lakes above Fairfax. There is a parking lot, bathrooms, picnic tables, and water at the bottom.
