Update

A fun trail for beginners to hone their technical skills along the south side of Lake Alpine.

Michael Town

Description

Generally open once the snow melts. Call Bear Valley Cross Country and Adventure Company for current conditions (209) 753-2834
This trail is part of the historic Emigrant Trail. This portion starts from the Silver Valley campground at the east end of Lake Alpine and travels west up and over the Osborn Ridge area back down to the Bear Valley to Alpine Lake Trail. This is a great trail for beginner riders to hone their technical skills.

It is estimated that at least half a million travelers trekked across these trails between 1843 and 1869, and even with the growing competition from transcontinental railroads, some use continued into the turn of the twentieth-century.
