Description

This trail is part of the historic Emigrant Trail. This portion starts from the Silver Valley campground at the east end of Lake Alpine and travels west up and over the Osborn Ridge area back down to the Bear Valley to Alpine Lake Trail. This is a great trail for beginner riders to hone their technical skills.

It is estimated that at least half a million travelers trekked across these trails between 1843 and 1869, and even with the growing competition from transcontinental railroads, some use continued into the turn of the twentieth-century.

Nasty little hike-a-bike rock garden heading toward the dam on Lake Alpine. The view of the lake here makes it all worth it.

Cross the creek here if you can instead of going to bridge. Love the fall colors!!
