Family Friendly This trail is very family friendly; On Saturdays and Sundays you should expect large groups out biking together and having a fun time.

Rules:
1. Don't ride on Bridle trails.
2. Say "passing" out loud before going around other trail users.

Description

The Ohio Towpath isn't the traditional MTB trail. It follows the once standing path where mules and donkeys pulled the boats down the canal. It also has many areas where you can stop and learn some history, and for those who want the whole story, a once-tavern now turned visitor center has park staff on hand that are happy to tell you all you want to know.

The towpath is a very smooth ride with bridges here and there carrying you over the streams. You should expect to see a lot of bikers, runners, and people walking.

There are no major obstacles on this trail; the biggest one to expect is a halfpipe-type, up and down section.

For more information, see the NPS brochure here.

Perfect gravel ride for beginners. Don't even need a true gravel bike for it. Beautiful, shaded, nice parks to stop in if you want. 47mi — 4h 30m

Dry, bumpy and very crowded. Probably variable conditions now that it has been raining the past two days.
