A fun loop to add more challenging terrain and a rewarding descent to the Gold Loop.

Closed for rifle and black powder hunting season. Western Slope trail users must have a trail pass.

Overview

Laird's Loop is a great bonus loop for riders on the Gold Loop looking to add more fun climbing and descending to their traverse of the Western Slope Trails. Laird's Nose is more flowy, Laird's Nostril is more technical. This loop is usually ridden counter-clockwise but it is fine to mix it up and ride in both directions. Don't miss Leighton's Overlook before descending back to the Gold Loop!

Description

From the intersection of Lower Granny Bypass, Lower Granny Grind, Annex, Laird's Downhill, Laird's Nostril and Laird's Nose, take Laird's Nostril for an entertaining climb full of challenging rock gardens and switchbacks. At the top, cross Laird's Downhill and continue to Laird's Nose.

Don't miss the Leighton's Overlook spur trail for epic views of Harrisonburg and the GWNF west of town—it's a great spot to catch a sunset. Descend Laird's Nose for some spectacular off camber flow spiced up with rocky sections back to the big intersection.
