Description

Chances are you'll be riding this as part of Critical Mistakes, in that case, you can read about it there. However, there is no reason that this couldn't be done as an out and back. The climb is manageable and the return downhill sweet. As an out and back, you probably won't go past the pond three miles up. Well you could, but it would a pure hike-a-bike up a steep rock laden meadow, and the trail above isn't worth the hike. But if you do after the meadow it is a pleasant meandering over to the Bitterroot - Rock Creek Divide Trail South (313).

Finding this trail at either end is a challenge. Off the East Fork Rd, there is no pull out at the trailhead, just a sign along the road that is east to miss. The trail junction with Bitterroot - Rock Creek Divide Trail South (313) is even worse, an unmarked trail exiting off a doubletrack.
