An ascending trail that guides riders from grassy prairie into a more rugged montane environment.

Overview

Dogs: No Dogs

Description

Talon is a moderate trail with increasing elevation gain. It begins as a prairie trail and traverses through the scrub oak to the montane. Vegetation and views change along the way, so theres no chance to get bored, only inspired. The trail cuts deep into the park and offers access to the North Talon and South Talon loops.

It was not a very fun ride uphill. The sand is very loose and almost the entire length of the trail is rutted in the middle.

I'm not quite sure why this trail is rated as a blue trail except for the ever incessant uphill. When you point downhill, it's fun, but most definitely not difficult. The south and north loops were worth doing. Are they worth the climb? Not really, but they are still fun. Oct 23, 2016
Not sure why people rate this as blue. There are very few obstacles (almost none) but a great cardio climb. I'd say green/blue simply due to the climb. There is one spot with a decent uphill turn that hits a good root but apart from that just smooth climbing or descent. Mar 15, 2017

The first 1.5 miles of Talon (from parking lot) are boring, but a nice warmup before climbing. I prefer to take Sundance counter clockwise to Talon, then head uphill to both South and North Talon loops. South Talon is a fun flowing trail, not technical. North Talon is a nice climb in either direction, with fun downhills and rocky sections. Take Talon to back to Sundance & finish rest of Sundance. May 8, 2017
