Description

It costs $5 to park in the San Joaquin River Gorge parking lot.

From the bathrooms follow the trail downhill for about a mile until you get to bridge that crosses the San Joaquin River. Enjoy the view here and notice the hydroelectric plant just up river a bit.

Cross the bridge and start climbing. Most people take the trail to left and ride the loop clockwise to make for a great decent. As the trail levels out for a short bit you'll notice the Wuh-ki'o Trail connects and goes to your left. Continue climbing, near the top there is a rock garden hike a bike. When you get to the top there are several places to stop and enjoy the view.

The descent back to the bridge is a blast. You need to be careful as this trail will get several hikers on nice days. Make sure you always ride in control.

When you get back to the parking lot if you didn't get enough riding in then take the San Joaquin River Trail for an out and back ride or shuttle to Finegold.

A challenge for newer riders. East half of loop seemed very rocky. Definitely advanced if you try to stay in the saddle. 8mi — 3h 15m
