“A fun ride out onto a bluff with a nice overlook and a couple of short steep and rocky sections.”
— Darius Rike
Fort Ord National Monument trails are closed from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.
Heading west on Sandy Ridge Rd take a left on this trail. Watch for rutted sections and as you head out onto the bluff there is a short steep rutted climb that is a challenge to get up (on your bike) but has a nice view at the top. Coming off the bluff it gets sandy and drops down another short steep rocky section (rare here on Ft. Ord) and down into a rutted section followed by a sandy turn.
As you head along the side of the hill you'll run into another rocky section and that ends in a sandy turn and dumps you out onto Engineer Canyon Rd. From there you can cross the road and continue up the ridge on Trail 36
