Easy access from Cuesta Pass on Hwy 101 makes this trail a popular destination for locals and people new to the area. There are wonderful views from the top of the ridge to be soaked in before flying down or as the reward for a hard effort on the way up. One gate about 1/3 of the way down requires dismounting.

Best known as a descent, Shooters is also a great climb - its grade is consistent and not overly rocky, but can be moderately loose in places. Keep an eye out around the numerous corners for other riders.
