Family Friendly I would recommend to other families, although the climb is demanding. Plenty of plateaus and ravines on the way up, which helps break up the portions that are physically demanding.

Description

From the parking lot off of Mill Creek Road, start at the obvious trail next to the road. 1E01 ends at the junction of 2N08 and Skyline Road (2N10).

Take the trail up further for another half mile or so and it ends at Grand View point - a great view of the backside of the mountain and canyon. This trail is popular and will have hikers and bikers during the summer season of Big Bear. In my opinion, it's the best way to summit the mountain and get to 2N10 (Skyline). Traverse Skyline either direction to find singletracks going down (Trick or Treat, Plantation, Wet Dream, etc).

Although climbing 1E01 is fun, descending is even better on the hard packed, well traveled trail with flowing corners. Highly recommended!
