Overview

This is a nice loop ride for beginners. It's not nearly as good as most other trails in the area, but it's easy and predictable. It might be 4 stars for a beginner but only 2 for experienced riders.

Need to Know

This one is best done clockwise - up Vegetarian Loop and down Chutes & Ladders.

Description

From the parking lot, head down the hill across the road to the Cow Pond 100 yards away, then continue east, up the side of the Cow Pond (most riders will turn north, towards the hills here). At the signed intersection on the far side of the pond, take Vegetarian Loop to the left.

Vegetarian Loop heads straight up a wash with a gentle incline almost the whole way. There is a short steeper climb near the end with a few rocks, but it's easily rideable by most. Advanced riders will find this stretch uninteresting: the scenery is not as good as other rides here, there are no features or even many turns.

You'll come to Down Uppity near the end of the climb. Down Uppity is a very fun twisty intermediate trail, and a good option for a shortened ride back to the parking lot.

But this section continues just a short way until you meet Lower Chutes & Ladders. Take a right turn and the fun turns way up. Head downhill for a while until you get to an unsigned Y intersection. Going right is a shortcut to the Edge Loop and the parking lot. Go left to stay on this trail. About a mile later you'll come to a road and fence. Go on the road for 50' and look for the trail to veer off the right along a fence line. Follow the fence line on the west side until you hit Edge Loop. This stretch is fast and fun with banked turns, swoops, and no surprises.

Take a right on the Edge Loop back to the parking lot on VERY fast and flowy trail. There are a few fun wash crossings with steep ups and downs, so keep a lookout for them as you fly down the trail.
