Description

East side access from Richmond as shown.

West side access from San Rafael as shown (Francisco Boulevard East).

West side access to and from Larkspur is trickier. The safer route is through Cal Park Tunnel and up Andersen Drive. The path to the bridge is a two-way bike path that starts at Andersen Dr on the northwest side of Sir Francis Drake Blvd where it becomes a highway ramp, so if you ride up SFD past San Quentin, you'll have to take a left across 45mph traffic to get to the path. The path follows the westbound I-580 ramp (separated by a barrier) down to Francisco Blvd E.

In 2019, the bridge bike lane became a barrier-separated two-way bike path on the north side of the upper deck. No more riding on the shoulder next to traffic. There are two long and steady "hills" over the bridge spans.
