Vehicular access to the neighborhood below this trail is restricted, but easement is provided to hikers, equestrians, and cyclists.
Description
The upper trailhead is on
Doty Road just below the intersection with
Oliver Canyon Road. This recently re-cut singletrack flirts with the ridges and glens of Ebey Canyon, snaking its way to the bottom along flowing hillsides, steep declines, loose corners, and punchy little climbs.
Three-quarters of the way to the bottom it intersects the
Ebey Canyon Trail.
Recently restored by the USFS and local volunteers after the various fires since 2009, this trail is maintained by and popular with equestrians. Consequently, the tread can be very loose, especially on the steepest sections.
Ebey Canyon and Oliver Canyon form a big figure-8 network of fire roads that ring the canyons and meet at Larsen Flat. Each canyon also features singletrack trails that generally criss-cross the canyons, so many combinations of fire road climbs and singletrack descents can be strung together depending on how long you want your ride to be.
