Description

This route can be used to extend the Little Pine-McMurry Loop from Little Pine Creek (9S102) by staying high at the base of the mountains for an additional 2.6 miles to McMurry Meadows Road.

This beautiful route will take you by meadows and springs with views over Crater Mountain and the Owens Valley towards the White and Inyo Mountains. Along the way, you'll pass the Birch Creek Trailhead (wilderness - hiking only) and end up along Birch Creek offering water, shade, and even a nice campsite. The route follows a 4WD route with occasional rocky sections and sandy substrate.
