Family Friendly Great trail to teach your kids how to mountain bike.

Closed when wet and muddy. Check status at sorbamidtn.org/current-cond…

Overview

This is a great trail for all experience levels. With all the twists and turns, the beginner rider can get a feel for mountain biking, while the advanced rider can test their skills by keeping speed through the turns.

Phase 2.1 has some log overs and is more rooted, this side also tends to remain wet longer then Phase 1. This trail is technically a two-way trail, however most will ride counter-clockwise. Remember to always yield to the uphill rider.

Need to Know

Please, DO NOT ride muddy trails.

Phase 2.1 stays damp longer then Phase 1 so even though Phase 1 may be dry, Phase 2.1 will remain wet.

Description

When you enter the trail from the parking lot, head right to begin Phase 1. You'll have lots of twisty singletrack, with short uphill climbs followed by short downhills. Basically, this trail is all easy singletrack which makes for a fast, fun and flowing trail.

Close to the end of Phase 1, you'll come to the Phase 2.1 connector, if you stay right you'll continue to Phase 2.1, while staying left will return you to the trailhead.

On Phase 2.1, you'll encounter a few log-overs, one of which has a go-around, since it is quite large. Phase 2.1 has lots of roots in the trail surface, be careful when slightly damp, because the roots can get very slick. Phase 2.1 does not have as much in the way of elevation changes so the challenge here would be maintaining speed throughout the twisty trail.

Close to the end of Phase 2.1, you have a connector on your left to return you back to the beginning of Phase 2.1, or stay right and this will deliver you back to the trailhead connector.

Close to the start of the trail, there is a skills loop. This is a great place for beginners to practice their riding skills.

Platform drop on Section 2 - just stay left to skip it (but you'll want to roll quick and take it).

Secret drop on Section 2 about 1 mile before the section 4 split. As trail curves left, take the less ridden right spur uphill. Just keep good speed and roll off the ~ 2 foot drop.
