This a fun ride from Upper Gold Camp down to the Open Space. Great views and hairy switchbacks.

The trail doesn't end at Helen Hunt Falls anymore. They routed it to go up to Gold Camp near the big gravel lot.

Description

Columbine trail winds through the Cheyenne Canyon starting at the east end of the canyon and ending by Helen Hunt Falls.

There are three trailheads (Lower, Mid and Upper) that are all accessible from the main road so you can access this trail at different points. To cover the full distance, start from the Lower Trailhead located behind the Starsmore Discover Center.

For the first mile the trail follows the road through but once you reach the Middle Trailhead, the route will take you up the north side of the canyon. Though the trail will be steep in parts, the ascent is generally not too difficult. You'll still have earned a run descent by the time you reach the top! Enjoy the views along the way until you reach the end of the trail just above the Helen Hunt Falls.

Went only a few miles up here because it was intense climbing. Very pretty but steep. Not too technical. Went down fast and stopped at solid grounds 4mi
