Overview

Two bigger descents with minimal tech.

Description

Start at the southern parking lot off of Ridgeway Ave. Leave the lot to take Ridge Trail, left uphill. Stay on Ridge Trail until you intersect Ponderosa Trail, take this trail. You'll cross over Arroyo Grande in a weird intersection in a drain.

Follow it right to continue on Ponderosa then a quick left onto Upper Meadows Loop. Keep climbing, then cross over Arroyo Grande again. Look for Upper Meadows to take a right switchback to climb to Chamberlain.

Turn right to keep climbing Chamberlain. You'll pass the start of Arroyo Grande, remember this as you'll drop in later

Chamberlain will have Ladders start on your left, take Ladders for more climbing until you intersect Chutes. You're going to take the left onto Chutes to start your descent.

This section of the Chutes incorporates the original descent. It's a fast trail with optional lines. Have fun! You'll know you're near the end when you get to the gate and metal hump to ride over. Hang a left onto Chamberlain. Remember Arroyo Grande? Now you get to drop in after your fast climb up.

The Arroyo Grande descent is similar to the Chutes: in a drainage, fast and loose. Keep a look out for the Ponderosa Trail as you'll cross it to continue on Arroyo Grande Connector.

Take the right onto Upper Meadows (SOS) at the T-intersection. Now for some granite boulder features as you work your way back to the trailhead. Stay right to avoid Stratton East Parking Lot. You'll have a climb up over the ridge into a meadow before you start descending to the Ridgeway Trailhead. You should see it.

Take Meadows Trail all the way back to the start!

We took advantage of a nice day and climbed Chamberlin-Chutes-Gold Camp Road to about the 10 mile point. Sadly my camera died for the downhill on Chutes.

Part of the trail with large rocks. There are at least three to four sections with large rocks.
