Description

This bikeway helps riders get over Kellogg and I-135 by connecting two existing pedestrian bridges with a sharrow marked path. It weaves through several east downtown neighborhoods.

Schweiter was mainly designed as a vein to collect neighborhood riders and funnel them through a low traffic volume area, bringing them away from main streets such as Hillside and Douglas. This bikeway connects Linwood, Rivera and Schweiter parks.

A ribbon-cutting celebration opened this path June 17, 2015.

History: Schweiter Park was established in 1946 in Henry Schweiter's Memory, 1844-1925. A Wichita pioneer developer and park enthusiast.

The pedestrian bridge has a spiral on each end that's fun to ride up!

This bridge isn't as high as the one over Kellogg, but still fun.
