Overview

The Quebec Run area offers rustic Western Pennsylvania riding at its best. Expect mountainous terrain, old school trails built for hiking, occasional rock gardens and stream crossings, all in a beautiful and remote setting. The clockwise loop is a common recommendation for fist-timers to the area and can easily be extended if more riding is desired. By adding the Brocker and Rankin trails a set of stacked loops can be arranged. Alternatively, one can extend the clockwise loop by crossing the bridge over Quebec run at the camping area and doing out-and-backs on the Grist Mill trail.

Need to Know

There are multiple parking options to access this loop. Perhaps the easiest is the indicated parking area at the Tebolt trailhead. As mentioned, this is a remote area and it is likely that you'll see very few, if any, others. Pack accordingly. Also, this is a hunting zone, so it pays to be aware of the season. There has been a longstanding law against hunting on Sunday making this day a good choice if uncertain.

Description

Start with Tebolt Trail and descend, staying to the left at the first junction. There are a few short steep climbs and fun descents. Continue on Hess Trail until its terminus at a parking area. Part way along you'll need to make a sharp left off a section of doubletrack to ascend a hill on the way to the final descent.

From this parking area, find the Miller Trail trailhead and adjust your bike and mindset for an adrenalin-releasing descent that is a true highlight of the Quebec Area. Continue onto the Mill Run Trail, which is a mostly flat, beautiful section alongside Mill Run. There is a camping area, which is an obvious place to stop for re-fueling and relaxation. The bridge takes you to Grist Mill Trail if you want to add a few extra miles. Back on Mill Run Trail, the track exits the valley floor and begins to climb.

Finish your ride by taking a right onto Tebolt Trail and ascend the rough doubletrack back to the junction below the parking area. Turn left and ascend the last bit back to the your finish.

I didn't find it to be too fun. Lots of rock sections that I found unridable and ditch crossings that required a push. Maybe good for some, but not me 11.2mi — 1h 23m

Might be my new favorite loop in SW PA! Beautiful trail in through the forest with some fast, steep, rocky downhills.
