Clunker begins at a gravel parking lot off of Little Park Road at the north end of Holy Bucket. The trail descends north from the parking lot to the valley, passing a non-system route on the right out of the management area in the drainage at the northern tip of the trail.

Clunker then begins to contour back to the south, technically at times. The trail passes a right turn, switchbacking connection to Miramonte Rim, then continues south past Gunny Loop and Bunker on the left, terminating at Holy Cross.
