Description

The rainmaker trailhead is just to the left of the large trail map located at the top of the Zephyr chairlift. This trail gets five stars given its length, the amount of work that went into it and, quite simply, how fun it is to ride! This trail was designed for intermediate to expert riders.

Drop into Rainmaker and you'll be immediately greeted by two step-down tabletop jumps that are easily cleared with a decent amount of speed. Most all of the jumps on this trail are either able to be rolled over or bypassed completely by slower, non air-seeking riders. Cross the gravel road and ride onto a wooden boardwalk in the trees.

Once your tires are back on dirt, you'll encounter a series of small dirt to dirt gap jumps. Following those doubles is the first section of tabletops with steeper take-off ramps. The jumps were designed with the speed offered by the trail in mind, so if you're planning on getting airborne, go wide open! If you'd prefer to stay grounded, check your speed. Coming up short isn't much of an issue here as there are no gaps between takeoffs and landings. Rip through about a half a dozen perfectly built berms, jump or roll another half-dozen tabletops and you'll arrive at an access road.

Cross the road and drop back into Rainmaker. You'll immediately encounter two tabletops as you enter the woods, followed by a series of really nice berms. The trend of jumps inter-spliced with berms continues through the woods until you eventually pop out onto a ski run. It should be noted that this middle section of Rainmaker features jumps that are still rollable but have a higher consequence if you do send it and come up short. Out in the open there are some optional gap jumps with obvious ride around paths. Eventually, as you approach another stand of pines, you'll see a bridge that has been built with a lip take off so that it can be cleared if desired. A short distance after the bridge, you'll arrive at the Five-Points intersection where you'll pick up the last portion of Rainmaker.

The bottom portion of Rainmaker contains, you guessed it, more perfect jumps and buffed out trail. Again, be careful if you're sending these jumps because they become more like doubles with gaps between takeoff and landing. Cross another access road and get ready for more smooth, flowing goodness! The final set of six or so berms are amazing 180 degree gems so let go of the brakes and rip them!

End at an intersection with Lower Long Trail and main dirt road.
