Short and steep spur to connect the original western portion of Buckhorn Traverse to BLM Road 8324. Note, this short connector trail exists for motorcycles, which are allowed on the west, but not east portion of the Buckhorn Traverse singletrack.

Starting shortly after you cross the cattle guard on Buckhorn (where it turns sharply to the left) the Buckhorn Traverse Spur is a less-trafficked trail that goes straight at the described left.

Winding its way around the north end of the Crown, the Buckhorn Traverse Spur is your access to the east side of the Crown. The east side is all doubletrack and a network of cow paths. There are access points back to the west side, but one must know their way. (Google Maps online will give you a great idea the options for getting back west.)

The trail is 100% singletrack and winds in and out of gullies with some short, punchy climbs. The wildflowers are off the hook in the first portion at the right time of year. This trail ends at a doubletrack road where you can explore to the south as described above, or you can make it an out and back.
