Description

Extending beyond the former gas well at the end of the northern segment of Silvermine, the southern segment changes from dirt road to singletrack. Grade changes are gradual but surface conditions vary abruptly. The most severe rock garden extends either side of the Hemlock intersection and a couple lesser ones are scattered along the trail.

Isolated rounded embedded boulders are encountered all along with a longer stretch of low rounded boulders north of the Hemlock intersection. Other segments are smooth and flowy. Overall average difficulty would be intermediate. Watch for several optional log and/or rock obstacles along the sides of the trail. A less apparent one is just beyond the top of the rise past the Black Bear intersection.
