Due to the nature of the soil and the ridge top location, the Laurel Mountain Trail System should be avoided after it has recently rained. This a also a great place to cross country ski in the winter since the Laurel Ridge gets more snow than anywhere else Trails are closed to biking during snow cover. See paccsa.org/lrwebcam for webcam.

Description

As mapped, the trail starts from Burma, just east of parking. Gradual downhill to east with a few more challenging rocky sections. Westbound uphill leg follows old logging railroad grade though evergreens.

It crosses Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail 2x (Yellow blazes - no bikes). The segment west of the road starts with rocky section leading to a short climb to the plateau and connection to Towhee.
