Overview

Nice shaded climb up the dirt service road in Sullivan Canyon. From the top, enjoy the fast singletrack and jumps on Sullivan Ridge Trail (which parallel's Sullivan Fire Road). Sullivan Fire Road is an easy alternative if the singletrack gets too rough. Great views of the Santa Monica Mountains (and ocean on a clear day).

Need to Know

Sullivan Ridge can be hot and very sunny.

Description

Start the loop at Sullivan Canyon Trailhead. Check the trees at the gate to see a flock of wild parrots. Climb steadily up the shaded dirt/gravel service road in Sullivan Canyon (Sullivan Canyon Trail) until you reach the intersection. Take a left at the intersection to continue climbing up Sullivan Canyon Trail until you reach the ridge line on Sullivan Fire Road. Here you'll have great views of Sullivan Canyon and the Santa Monica mountains.

Take a left onto Sullivan Fire Road to start your decent. After 0.2 miles, take a right onto the steep uphill singletrack (Sullivan Ridge Trail). Sullivan Fire Road will intersect with Sullivan Ridge Trail three more times, so alternatively you can jump onto the singletrack later on. Enjoy the epic singletrack and jumps as you decend on Sullivan Ridge Trail. The trail ends back on Sullivan Fire Road at the gated entrance to Josepho Road.

Take Sullivan Fire Road for 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection of Sullivan Goat Track (the trailhead is hidden behind wooden utility pole). Carefully decend the steep sandy switchbacks of Sullivan Goat Track until you meet Sullivan Canyon Trail.

Take a right onto Sullivan Canyon Trail and continue back to the trailhead where you started.

The singletrack down the mountain is fast and fun with a bunch of jumps and drops. Some techy terrain but 90% manageable for the average rider. 9.4mi — 1h 30m
